Open Water: There are multiple open water sessions held in the North East throughout the summer. VO2Max sessions are run from Woodhorn Museum on a Thursday evening (6-8pm) through to July.

Tyne Triathlon members may also organise informal open water swims. Keep an eye on the Tyne Triathlon Facebook Group for posts about this.

Cycling

Sunday: Group Bike Ride, Regents Centre, meet at 9:30am

The group rides vary in distance and speed depending upon the numbers of people that attend. On average the distance will be between 20-30 miles (Wednesday) and 40-50 miles (Sunday) with an average pace of around 15-16 mph. If you are interested in attending this ride, but are unsure on your ability or about group riding then please feel free to get in touch with the club at tynetriathlonclub@gmail.com for advice.

The Sunday cycle ride may not occur every weekend and we recommend putting a post up on our Tyne Triathlon Facebook Group to make sure it others will also be heading out. This is also a great way to get yourself known to the group and meet some new people!

Running

Due to the large geographical area Tyne Tri covers and the number of good running clubs in the area, we encourage members to join your local running club.

Starting in 2023 we’re organising steady run sessions on Saturday mornings. Post in the Facebook group (or look out for our posts) for the when and where. These are currently suspended due to injury.

Park run is also a great way to get in a 5km blast once a week. it’s free and a good way to track your progress and gets the weekend of to a flying start. Lots of Tyne Tri members do park run and you can see where you fit in here. Sign up if you haven’t already it’s great sprint triathlon training.

Our members can usually be found at many of the North East Park run events.

Transition

We’ll run some Transition Training sessions in 2025 in Leazes Park. Check the Facebook group for more details.
